Outreach
Through our Literacy Outreach Program, Literacy Victoria offers marginalized adults beyond Literacy Victoria's walls free help with reading, writing, math and computer skills.
Our community partner agencies provide the space. We provide the supplies, equipment, and trained literacy outreach volunteers.
Each site has format and activities developed to fit clients’ interests and needs, the organization’s space, and Literacy Victoria’s resources. At every site, trained volunteer literacy helpers work with clients to help them set and reach their own goals. There may be one-to-one or group work.
Our current sites are Sandy Merriman House Emergency Shelter for Women, Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre, Camus Gardens, Next Steps Transition House and the LV Bookmobile for the Homeless.
See the A-Channel segment on the new BookMobile here.
