Learners' Network

The Learners’ Network is a free program that helps adults with basic reading, writing, math and lifeskills.

Learners are at least 18 years of age and come from all walks of life. Many are adults who can read and write some things but wish further assistance with these skills. They may come to LV  for a personal reason, or to upgrade for employment or for a better position for work.

Volunteer tutors work one-to-one with these learners. Together they set their own time and place to meet. The tutoring sessions are private and confidential. Learners are encouraged to work independently, set their own goals and work with a tutor to achieve those goals.

Some personal goals may be:

  • writing a letter or email
  • reading a bus schedule
  • taking a written driver’s test
  • completing a course
  • researching online

It does not matter how long it takes to reach a goal. We support our learners every step along the way.
