Literacy Outreach
Through our Literacy Outreach Program, Literacy Victoria offers marginalized adults free help with reading, writing, math and computer skills beyond Literacy Victoria’s walls.
Our community partner agencies provide the space. We provide the supplies, equipment, and trained literacy outreach volunteers.
The format and activities at each site are developed to fit clients’ interests and needs, the organization’s space, and Literacy Victoria’s resources. At every site, trained volunteer literacy helpers work with clients to help them set and reach their own goals. There may be one-to-one or group work.
Our current sites are Sandy Merriman House Emergency Shelter for Women, Vancouver Island Regional Corrctional Centre and Streetlink Emergency Shelter.
